facebook scheduling, drawbacks of facebook scheduling, social media Ah, social media . There’s always something new. In this case, it’s the latest Facebook update where page administrators can schedule posts in advance. Unfortunately, there are annoying flaws in the interface. What does it mean for your
business
and how can you get around it? Read on for some hints:

  1. Where is it, where is it…..oh, there it is
The scheduling feature is on your page but you probably didn’t notice it. If you start to write a post, you’ll see a tiny clock in the lower left corner. Click on it, set the time to the future and the button for “Post” will change to “Schedule.
  2. YesterMorrow
Facebook is teaching us that time is not linear. To schedule a post in the future, you date it just as you would a milestone. Only in the future.
  3. Ten is not always ideal
Instead of an easy calendar and timing function, you can only schedule posts in 10-minute increments. Oh, and you have to schedule an update at least 10 minutes in advance.
  4. No changing your mind
So you’ve found the clock and written a post. But now you want to edit it? Too bad, you can’t. You can only change the time. However, go into the Activity Log and you can see what you’ve scheduled, as well as cancel any posts.
  5. So near, yet so far
Ah, the Activity Log. Schedule a post and a window pops up to let you view the log. Scheduled posts show up at the top. But if you want to look at scheduled posts later, it’s difficult to find the Activity Log. Go to the top of your page, click the “Manage” drop-down menu and select “Activity Log.” A tiny arrow flickers as you hover over each post. Click the arrow to cancel a post or change its time.

Will Facebook correct the flaws before we give up and go back to HootSuite and other third-party apps? Or, as has been said about social media in general, is this something we’ll complain about, only to forget the next day? Stay tuned!
